New Experiences with French Furniture and a Hall Table

It's so nice to have you here in my house! Please do come in. The first thing you can see here is the entrance hall.

The little table is something I almost got rid of. The legs are wobbly, the paint colors had turned, and the legs needed a re-screwing just to fix it all up. I tried finding a replacement, but there was nothing I liked (that was cheap enough anyway) so I decided it was time to spruce things up a bit!

I started by making it look new with a sanding and new coat of a British Paints 'Holy White'. We also used some wood glue adhesives with screws to put the lets back in working order. Even if one of the legs still has a slight wobbly problem it really does seem to do the trick for now.

There was one photo above all others that acted as the inspiration for the new table. It was in a Macy's Christmas catalogue and I loved the combinations of white and silver in it.

A few years back we were in a weird and low key chic phase, and during that phase we bought a little bird house. We bought little white and silver birds from Australian cities we visited Sydney and Brisbane. The crystals were given to us by Jenny, our friend, and they even came with a silver bowl from a great boutique store in High St, Adelaide. We got the inspiration for some of these pieces from a recent french furniture blog we had been checking out, French Furniture Blog. We saw a bunch of nice pieces on there, provincial french furniture from places like Sydney and Melbourne. I thought the bedroom being led to at the top of these stairs was a nice touch. The pretty etched mirror was from Lowes in Foster City.

Oh me oh my, there are so many people coming and going in these halls and things get left behind! There are bags getting thrown around and not put away properly, and it's just the place where visitors see when they first arrive - because of this it sets the tone for the whole house!

My lovely daughter keeps a brush and ribbons and decorations from school on one of the tables and in a draw so I can quickly put a pony tail in her hair because we calmly go off ot school in the mornings (we've been perfecting our morning routine!). So this mirror is handy to verify that everything is looking good before we leave!!!
